Toaster Idea

— dushkin
@23:00

I just had a wonderful idea for a practical appliance. It’s a toaster with programmable shapes that can be embedded on the toast.

The toaster will have, say, 100 different heating bodies, 10 by 10, and you will be able to draw an image, and according to that, the toast will get the desired ‘print’ by having only the heating bodies that you want to turn on turn on. Basically, this thing creates uneven toasts under very controlled situations. And it should’nt be hard either - we have successfully put NetBSD on a toaster, so that could be the next step.

Of course, those little heating bodies will have to be pretty close to the toast itself to get a good “resolution”, and perhaps more than 100, more like 16×16. I don’t know.

The toaster will be accessed via either Bluetooth, and will have several presets built in that you can use.

I’d buy one.

Checkup on My Last.fm Hack

Hello everyone

I was sort of checking up on my Last.fm hack that I posted several weeks ago (or months?) and realized that nobody’s actually done anything with it. The question is why? It’s such an awesome thing.

Good-bye, Old Fart!

— dushkin
@10:10

Slashdot posted an article today that caught my attention, mentioning that our dear old friend, Billy-G will step down a bit from Microsoft.

I think it’s a bit of a shame. Until now we had a nice comfortable non-moving target we could hit with our Microsoft-hatered. However, now that he’ll sort of be less and less involved with Microsoft, we’re going to have to find someone else.

I was thinking about Steve Ballmer, then. He’s like the Chuck Norris of the software mafia. His devotion to the Doom of Real Music AKA DRM, could be some nice joke material we could use, I mean, everybody loves the capitalist sicko when he defends his little sandcastle.

All he needs now is just his own version of the classic game xbill, only with Steve instead of Bill, xsteve. So when’s 1.0 coming out?
