Just because Ritalin affects you positively does not mean you nessesarily have ADD. I don't have ADD but my dad has me take Focalin (very similar to Ritalin) to help me concentrate.

For me, it does help me concentrate and preform tasks "better." I have mostly the same side effects as you-- faster perception of time ("this is why drug-users call it "speed"), loss of apetite, and ability/desire to keep my attention on one thing, etc.

If you take it regularly you'll start to realize that living a life under the influence of it is very different than not. Primarily the effect is lack of daydreaming-- period. And not just daydreaming, but also the kind of times where you can just pause for a while and think about everything abstractly, as if philosiphizing or what not. For me, it makes everything want to be systematic and straightforwardly executable. It makes me want to preform tasks, and not sit around and think.

It's hard to explain until it happens to you (I only started noticing this after taking it for a few weeks), but when it does it will become very clear.

Hey mushkin, interesting article there, looking forward to read more about your experiments with this Ritalin pill, especially since I, too, have problems focusing on one task at a time.
