First Piece Auctioned (successfully)

My experience with auctioning my work was so far pretty lame. Well, at least until last Thursday.

First came “FUYU”, a piece which I liked a lot, that I auctioned and failed miserably. Not even one bid, not one. I ended up selling it to someone for 100 Kroner (if I recall correctly) which is around $17. I was happy that now someone else had it, that is to say, that it reached its final purpose.

Similarly, one of my prints was auctioned and sold in an event at the American Ambassador’s Residence. The auction started at 200 Kroner for most pieces. The piece I chose was a 21×29 (A4) print of Three Lamps. Paspartout’ed and framed. Sold to someone - sorry, I can’t remember the name! - for 650 Kroner, that is $113. Not bad.

I had a few “custom orders” and I sold several works in the past, but having my piece auctioned is different, and not to mention the high price.

The piece was in fact donated for the auction, that is to say that I haven’t seen a single krone out of it, although I did get to eat some Pizza and hang out with a bunch of old drunk people. My type of fun. (Note: I’m not referring to anybody)

So, I’m hoping for some more auctions, orders and exhibitions.

  1. Congradulations with the sales. Some sales are better than no sales, I must say. At least it’s one step towards becoming Andy Warhol version 2.0 :)
