Playing Around with the iSight
As some of you know, my (now yellowing) MacBook has a useful little feature - an iSight.
Unlike your usual webcam, the built-in iSight has one very obvious advantage. No, it’s not the resolution, it’s not the noise or lack of it, it’s just one tiny advantage that other cameras (including the FiweWire iSight) don’t have. It’s stuck to the actual machine.
True, while this is also a drawback, at the same time it keeps me from losing it, and keeps it portable, so basically, when I’m travelling around, my iSight comes with me.
This fact makes playing around with the iSight extremely inviting and helps you keep experimenting wherever you go. Resisting that temptation however can sometimes prove more difficult than you think.
One of the first photos i took with the iSight was a little photo of the newly purchased toy *ahem* educational device. After running Adium for a while and telling just about everyone about my brand new MacBook, I kept on getting requests from others to send them some photos. So that was the result of being a little lazy, and some sudden creativity.
Now that I take my MacBook with me just about everywhere I go, I discovered just how much fun you can have with just a camera. An occasional shot with a fellow student, or the usual shot of those few people who simply don’t want to be photographed (oh, those anti-social bastards). Hah, priceless.
Another interesting idea I had last month was to track the growth of my facial hair. However, the pressure from peers and relatives was too great and shaved it off after last weekend. I think I’ll do it again at some point, but for now, that’s all I got.
