Terror is the new Communist

— dushkin

It seems like hatred comes and goes in a similar manner to, surprisingly enough, fashion.

Back in the days of the cold war “commie”, “red”, “communist”, “soviet” and other similar nouns, adjectives and adverbs were used to define just about anything bad. The US government liked the term “communism” a lot, and was pretty much against anything even remotely ressambling communism.

Now there’s “terrorism”. It’s basically a term used to describe any sort of action that involves attacking you, pretty much. Not to say that it’s not an issue - it is, only it’s taken for more than what it really is among the public.

What do I mean by that? Well, I will allude to Bush’s “War against terrorism.” Wars are fought against countries, organisations and such, not against tactics. Terrorism isn’t centrelized. There’s no global terror comitee (non which I know of). It’s been used so much by the press that it became devoid.

Murder is not justified, even in the form of war. Especially when you’re targetting innocent civilians or vague concepts. How long will it take until the word “terrorist” would be used as a swear?

  1. I definatley agree. For example, one of the things people consider ‘rediculous’ from the red scare was how kids were forced to do the duck and cover thing in schools. And what do we do now? We have code red and code blue drills in school every two months at least.
